Things to Remember...

1.) When you bring your new puppy home,
make sure you do not take him or her
around other dogs or out of your yard until
at least their first set of shots are given.
When the pup leaves it's mom, it becomes
more vulnerable to diseases.

2.) Keep food and water available at all
times until pup is at least 12 weeks old.
Then feed 2 to 3 times daily.

3.) If you don't want your new baby
to sleep with you, don't start! Give him or
her a bed of their own.

4.) If you want a "car dog" start early with
short trips. Later you can increase how
long they are in the car with you.

.5.) If the pup is listless and won't eat,
please give it a little a Karo syrup. This will
bring up it's electrolytes and sugar levels.
If this continues for more than a day, take
the pup to the Vet immediately!
Small pups dehydrate fast and could die
very quickly!

6.) And last, but not least, Give the new
"baby" lots of attention and love !!!
Yes, you can do it!
Make your own dog treats!
Here is what you will need:

2 - 6oz. jars of baby food with meat
4 and 1/2 cups of wheat flour
1 egg
1/4 cup of olive oil
1 tablespoon of brown sugar

Combine all ingredients in mixing
large bowel. use more flour if
needed. If too dry, add a small
amount of water.
You want it to be easy to roll out in
a soft cookie dough consistency.
(not gooey)
Roll dough out to about a 1/4 of an
inch width
Use cookie cutter to make amusing
shapes. place pieces on cookie
sheet and bake at 225 for
2 hours or so until
treats are hard! Let cool!
Store in airtight container,
best to
store in fridge!
Use your imagination to
modify recipe!
I make these all the
time for my dogs, they love them!
Some interesting Facts about
Chihuahuas....
Coat Color:
The chihuahua can be any color or color pattern.
Many people think of the chihuahua
as having only tan variations. This is simply not true!
Chihuahuas can be any color seen in canines. From
chocolate to blue to merl patterns, all are acceptable
for breeding or showing.
(AKC Standards)
Size:
There is a lot of controversy about size. Size can
range from 3lbs to a whopping 14 lbs!
As a breeder and lover of chihuahuas, I prefer
dogs weighing 5 to 8 lbs. Chihuahuas smaller than
this are sometimes unhealthy and absolutely must
not be bred! I can not stress it enough, do not breed
a dog under 5 lbs!
AKC standards are under 6 lbs for showing in the
ring.
No matter what the color or size, chihuahuas are a
joy to share your  love and your life with.
